During my recent house move I found myself needing to rent a storage unit in Bendigo because I was unable to sign a contract on my new home until three months after I left the old one. I was able to stay with friends for the three months but my furniture had to be out of my old apartment and I had nowhere to put it all.
I have really nice furniture, a high quality sofa, bed and soft furnishings and I really didn’t want to dump them in a friend’s garage where they were going to get damp through the winter so I checked out a few local storage facilities online. One of the things that struck me most was that most of them were in the middle of nowhere. As a single girl I really didn’t fancy heading out to a disused field in the middle of the night in case I needed something from one of my boxes.
A few other facilities were nice until I realised that I would have to park my car at the front and carry all my stuff through the hallways. This would probably have meant hiring a removal team twice… once to move my stuff into the unit and then again to move it into my new house. I was pretty pleased when I found Strathdale because the first thing I noticed was that you can drive your car right up to your unit and park it outside while you unload. This meant I just had to slide my stuff out of the car and into the unit… perfect! Also it’s close to the highway so I didn’t have to spend age driving all my stuff back and forward to move in.
When I had moved my stuff into the unit I felt that not only was my property safe, but I was safe going to visit when I needed to. The place has high power lights around and in the units and also a hefty security fence and keycode on the gates. This meant that the time I had to go in the middle of the night to get a laptop charger from one of my boxes I was not at all worried and it was funny because there were other people in their units with the lights on so it wasn’t just me.
